Question 1

What is the Strake 9K and how is it different from the Strake 9?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K is the short, lightweight "K" variant of the Strake 9 — 5.2" overall length and 6.4oz (without mount). It uses the same 9mm-tuned, low-back-pressure DMLS architecture as the Strake 9 in a compact form factor optimized for pistols, PDWs, and tight-quarters PCC builds where overall length and weight matter most.

Question 2

What calibers and platforms is the Strake 9K rated for?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K is 9mm-first and full-auto rated on 9mm at all barrel lengths. It is also multi-caliber capable on .300 BLK (supersonic/subsonic), 5.56 NATO, .308 Win, 7.62×39, .350 Legend, .357/.38 Spl, .338 ARC Subsonic, and 8.6 BLK Subsonic — each with its own minimum barrel length (see the Caliber Restrictions table on this page). Internal geometry is tuned for both 9mm blowback PCCs and short-recoil pistols.

Question 3

Can I run the Strake 9K on a tilt-barrel pistol (Glock, SIG, Beretta, H&K, CZ, S&W)?

Accepted Answer

Yes — that's a core use case for the 9K. Drop a HUB-pattern Nielsen device (booster / LID) into the rear and the Strake 9K runs cleanly on virtually any threaded 9mm handgun including Glock, SIG P226/P229, Beretta 92, H&K USP/VP9, CZ P-09/P-10, and S&W M&P. The short, lightweight Ti build keeps slide cycling reliable where a heavier can would short-stroke the action.

Question 4

What mount system does the Strake 9K use?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K is HUB compatible (1.375×24) — not a direct-thread can. It accepts any HUB-pattern adapter: direct thread, tri-lug, QD, or Nielsen-device (booster) piston for tilt-barrel pistols. Most 9mm barrels use 1/2x28 threading; verify your barrel's thread pitch before ordering an adapter. Browse compatible mounts in our accessories catalog or contact support@layer3dx.com for help selecting the right setup for your host.

Question 5

What is the Strake 9K made from?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K is manufactured from DFARS-compliant Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) via Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) as a single monolithic structure. No welds, no joints, no assembly variation. Grade 5 Ti is 38% lighter than steel at equal strength and naturally corrosion resistant — a key reason the 9K hits 6.4oz at 5.2" OAL without compromising durability.

Question 6

Is the Strake 9K full-auto rated?

Accepted Answer

Yes — full-auto rated on 9mm at all barrel lengths. The Grade 5 Titanium DMLS construction delivers the thermal stability required for sustained automatic fire on subgun platforms like the MP5, Scorpion EVO, and Stribog. See the Caliber Restrictions table for full-auto ratings on other calibers.

Question 7

What is included in the Strake 9K box?

Accepted Answer

The standalone Strake 9K ships with the suppressor only — nothing else is included. Mounting hardware (HUB adapters, direct-thread adapters, Nielsen-device pistons for pistols, tri-lug or QD mounts) is sold separately so you can match the right mount to your specific host firearm — browse compatible mounts in our accessories catalog or contact support@layer3dx.com for help. The Strake 9K product manual is available for download from the Compatibility & Mounting section on this page.

Question 8

How do I buy a Strake 9K?

Accepted Answer

Order directly from layer3dx.com. At checkout, select your transfer option — ship to your local FFL dealer or let Capitol Armory handle everything. Your dealer files the ATF Form 4 on your behalf. Accessories always ship directly to your address within 1-2 business days; in-stock NFA items ship to your dealer after ATF Form 3 approval.

Question 9

What warranty does the Strake 9K come with?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K is backed by a transferable Limited Lifetime Warranty covering manufacturing defects. We will repair or replace any suppressor that fails under normal use — for life. Contact support@layer3dx.com for warranty claims.

Question 10

How does the Strake 9K reduce back-pressure?

Accepted Answer

The Strake 9K uses the same forward gas venting design as the full-size Strake 9, with internal geometries manufactured via DMLS that are impossible with traditional machining. Gas is directed forward and out of the suppressor rather than back into the action, and the design targets minimal added back-pressure — helping keep bolt velocity and cycling closer to factory behavior on both PCCs and pistols.

Question 11

Accepted Answer
